A lively discussion and exchange of technical ideas between the Red Ensign Group members and their authorised Recognised Organisations (RO) has marked the annual British Certification Committee meeting.
The newly developed single RO agreement with the REG, bringing in new IMO requirements and enhanced consistency right across the British shipping registries, has been circulated to the ROs for consultation and comment. The BCC provided the opportunity to share feedback and propose amendments.
Further key areas of discussion centred around Ballast Water Convention, the process of acceptance of IACS interpretations and the effective use of remote survey techniques.
A spokesman for the Red Ensign Group said: 'The British Certification Committee meeting has steadily increased momentum over the last three years - the level of engagement and technical interaction between the REG and the ROs has taking it from a formal committee to an active forum for exchange of ideas for enhancing the service and quality of the REG flags.'
