Crew welfare is the subject for discussion today at the final Red Ensign Group led session at the Superyacht Forum.
Phil Noad is the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry’s regional director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
He's chairing the session on crew welfare. He said: ‘Regulation isn’t just about overseeing the physical nature of the vessel, it’s also a recognition that conditions on board a yacht have a direct bearing on mental wellbeing of a crew. While there are limits on what we as Flag States can do, the Red Ensign Group will always support best practice for crew welfare and why we are chairing a session on this at the Superyacht Forum. Like us, the superyacht industry recognises seafarer wellbeing is not only an obligation but in everyone’s best interest and that these issues must be properly addressed.’
