Two members of the Maritime & Coastguard Agency have been in the Cayman Islands carrying out a pollution response capability review.
Alison Leighton and Andrew Healy are working with the authorities in the Cayman Islands getting an understanding of the risks of a maritime oil spill incident in the area and response capabilities.
As part of the discussions Alison and Andrew met with OfReg and the fuel suppliers. They also paid a visit to see where fuel is transferred from ship to shore via subsea pipelines.
The work is covered under the Conflict Stability Security Fund, which is funded by the UK Government.
