The Bermuda Shipping & Maritime Authority (BSMA) is to lend its official support to a seafarers’ centre on the island.
BSMA has become a corporate member of the Bermuda Sailors’ Home creating important links to the registered charity.
Francis Richardson, chief executive of the BSMA (pictured with Taran Card, acting chief surveyor) said: ‘The Sailors’ Home provides vital resources for seafarers, providing a recreation centre and home to support their happiness and well-being.’
The home was used in 2016 to house 16 crew from a fishing vessel Pioneer which sank off Bermuda.
