The 2024 edition of the Red Ensign Group (REG) Yacht Code, which came into force in July 2024, marks the first major update since 2019 after extensive consultation in the industry.
This Code of Practice outlines essential safety standards and pollution prevention measures tailored to various yacht sizes and types, serving as a key reference for Maritime Administrations, Recognised Organisations, Industry Associations, Naval Architects, and Yacht Builders.
Following further consultation with industry on stability criteria and fire safety, the REG is actively investigating these areas to ensure the most effective solutions. To provide clarity, the implementation of specific paragraphs has been deferred for an additional 6 months.
